Well Technically genes mutate everyday which causes some genetic variation, people born with abnormalities have a mutation in some gene. So.. technically yes, there are mutants. But to the extent shown in movies? No. Most genetic mutations are neutral, they are not even noticed. Some are harmful, and some are good, but you would need alot of genetic mutations working together to cause the things we see in movies since genes only code for very small parts of your morphology, and in reality they do not occur often enough.
The fact that mutations usually manifest as the "Mutants" on TV get older is also unlikely, bigger genetic variations occur during recombination so it is more likely something screws up then and the mutation affects the body immediatly at birth. And it is usually bad.
As we can see in the case of most brilliant people, there are also side effects... Autidsm for example. The extremes we see in movies are always show with out detrimental physical aspects.
So even though I truely love comic books and X - men, and my new favorite show heroes, I do not believe they exhibit a good outlook on reality. That's my opinion anyways. LOL

Mutants: - In a way, yes and no they are real (in different contexts - referring to different things).
In terms of science, DNA and genetically modifying, yes, mutations occur all the time. Science says that mutations happen when an organism needs to adapt to an environment. Alternatively, mutations also occur when there's something 'wrong' in the environment. There are some frogs, which can be found with legs growing off their legs! Freaky huh? This happens because there is radiation (or some chemical factor) in their environment (caused from factories, and deposits from acid rain). The frogs have two choices:
- Either Die out OR
- Adapt
This type of adaptation is caused when the DNA sequence is changed, causing the genes to alter (or do odd things). E.g.: You can also classify people with odd digits on their hands as mutants - though, it's really just a genetic defect in the DNA.
Mutation is happening a lot recently in crops. Half the food brought in supermarkets are genetically altered with in some way. E.g.: Seedless Grapes. These mutations are done by humans purposely to give us more, in this case - not having to swallow or pull out the seeds from a grape. Although WE think it may be pretty cool, it’s thought that such genetic alternations can be harmful in the long run (effecting possibly future children). This is why people are against GM (genetically modified) food - and cloning and stuff.
It's important to note that as far as we are (in the present time); there are no X-men or Spiderman like mutants (as much as half of us would wish so). Science is yet to develop to a stage where it understands genes at a complicated level - and mankind is yet to witness Genetic Modifications going wrong (or perhaps ugly). Maybe it's a good thing, for the time being - imagine how HARD it would be trying to fit into a society (like in Xmen)? I believe in mutation at a scientific level - but in the fictional level of 'super-powers'- maybe not yet.
As for Psychics, they apparently come in different 'grades' - as each type of psychic will do different things. I think psychics are possible, but I just don't like people who try and claim they are psychic when it's more than obvious they are faking it. I know 2 people who really 'over-do' the acting. It kinda makes you less faithful when it comes to believing in psychics.

"Mutant" comes from that Latin word which means "they change." So a mutant is a person who is changed or different for everyone else. I do think mutants are real. However, although scientists try to tell us that mutation adds information to the genetic code, this is not the case. Usually, mutations are not good.

Yeah!mutants are for real!!!
Didn't you hear that news that three mutants were caught attacking bush using extra-terestrial weapons?????
And physics doesnt even exist.Scientists have come to an ultimate conclusion that on which the whole world exists does not exist itself.
And if you believe this then you must be one of the mutants.

Mutants in movies are dramatised, but there extremes who are
not called mutants but geniuses, special, etc , so they are on
display one way or other by the media, proud parents, circuses etc. Like
mutants in the movies, they are hounded by those who want to
make a profit.
