Do blue people still live in Kentucky?

I was reading about the Blue People of Troublesome Creek and was wondering if the mutant gene is still around. Are there blue people still living around there?

Its a disease----methemoglobinemia----an enzyme deficiency, that was cured in the 1800's.......I thought unless its back?
