In college I took a speech & debate class. While we covered all the typical topics, death penalty, illegal drugs, etc. BUT the instructor showed us a video of someone who one some speech/debat match and he argued why the color blue is better than the color red. Totally silly, but it was a fun speech to listen/watch.

Depending upon your class...such as if it is a social science class, it may not be appropriate, but if the point of the class is to give the persuasive speech, and the skill is the point, then a funny approach may be an interesting way to go.

Good luck.

I did a persuasive speech opposing teen curfew laws and it went over very well. Most people in their early teens are opposed to curfew laws and it helped because the audience was more receptive. There are several great websites on the issue.

Ask yourself what you should change in your life? Is there something in school, or schools in general. For example, longer passing periods, more lunch lines, less homework, more field trips etc. Or you could do write something like animal testing; are you alright with it or against it, then write your paper on why people should be with or against it.

Persuade people that gay rights are wrong, persuade people that abortion is wrong, persuade people that the death penalty is wrong...all sorts, if you are going for a lighter topic persuade about uniforms, either way, I have done both and I honestly prefer uniforms...if you need pros of uniforms you can email me, I will give you plenty...I can also give you plenty of cons...good luck.
