Hi there altered ego......Oh well here goes: A pair of gloves are made from varying types of material, such as wool, nylon and leather. They would mainly be used as a protective cover to keep warm the parts of the body which can be found at the end of a person's arms. The base of a glove could be described as being like half of a square which has five separate tubular appendages which are sewn onto the top part of the square. They are evenly spaced out in order for them to span out. Usually, each tubular appendage is closed at the tips so as not to allow any cold air in. At the base of the 'half square' is an opening which allows enough room to place the garments onto the parts of the body which are found at the base of a person's arms. They stretch over this part of the body to fit like a sleeve, and ensuring that each of the five long parts of the body at the end of the arms are slid separately into the five tubular appendages; then pulled down a little further to cover the base of these five lengths.
Good question but a very difficult answer, but it was fun trying! :o)

A glove is a type of garment which covers part of the body at the end of the arms and of a human. Gloves have separate sheaths or openings for each digit of that part of the body if there is an opening but no covering sheath for each digit they are called open gloves. Open gloves with one large opening rather than individual openings for each digit are sometimes called gauntlets. Gloves which cover that entire part of the body but do not have separate digit openings or sheaths are called mittens. Mittens are warmer than gloves made of the same material because the extra air inside creates added insulation, and because these digits on that part of the body maintain their warmth better when they are touching.

I'd say something like ''you wear them in cold weather and they cover your extremeties". Which is perfectly true, but people would instantly get the wrong idea... I'd love to see the looks on their faces after hearing that.
You could mention digits, which makes it obvious.
