I have just recently bought a an ATI RADEON X650 PRO and it includes a CATALYST software. When I try to install this software it tells me to instal a BASIC VGA DRIVER first. Does anyone know where I can get this driver or which site I can download it from free of charge. If I dont need a driver what should I Do? Thanks

Since it's ASKING you to install a VGA driver, you probably didn't uninstall the driver of your old card.

Go into control panel, system, hardware and device manager.

Find the entry for your old card and uninstall the driver.

Also check in "add remove programs" to see if any application for your old card is in there, if there is uninstall it.

Restart your pc, and NOW windows will install it's default VGA driver.

You may have to restart again.

And now you can run the ATI catalyst software to install your new card.

Let Windows install the video driver - don't insert the CD - go with whatever driver Windows installs on a restart. Then you can run the CD set up.

uninstall the vga driver first, then restart the computer. let your os find the driver via cd drive, and if its successful then reboot.
