I checked, and I've never seen Gurney state park.

Maybe you're thinking of Garner State Park? I've camped there a few times, although it has been 23 years. It is on the Rio Frio... in... what is the name of that town... Concan :) It is about 45 miles west of downtown San Antonio (go west out highway 90, hang a right onto 187 and a left on route 127. (I can see the map in my head... sorry)

The only state parks that start with "g" are Garner, Goliad, Goose Island, Government Canyon and Guadalupe River. You can find all the State Parks here: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/

Are you sure you aren't meaning "Garner" State park? It's a very populare destination. I believe it is located in Concan, Texas.
Best of luck to you.
