I come from a family in mid-america that is known as racist drug dealers who beat their wifes and feel no shame in physically abusing their children. My father had to spend 5 years in prison for beating a man to death, my uncle is serving a life term for murder and rape, and my grandfather burns crosses.

So, I guess my answer is this? Does your family have a bad reputation because they stand for what they believe in (like mine believe in racism) or because they are just bad people. Next you must ask yourself, is the life that my family lives the type of life I want for me, my future wife, my future children?

If you can answer honestly any of these questions and not have to think more than a few seconds about how it will affect your future, than follow in their steps, if you have any negative feelings at all, listen to your gut ... following your heart is the best way to be successful.

BTW I am not racist. I have never raped, killed, or beat anyone in my life. And people have respect for me because I differ so much from my family.
