How exactly does it work? i know the whole point is to be the fastest, but what are the techniques the runners use?

I think they get 2 or 3 changes. They run without pads. They do speed training drills to get faster. Some people run with parachutes on their backs to create resistance and build speed. Others run with weighted vests.

They get to run a first segment of about 10 or 20 yards, then the second segment of 40 yards is counted for the times. Check out the video. It's kinda like the 100 dash, except way shorter and they get a headstart.

its on the sideline of the RCA dome. and they train starting after the season ends to prepare themselves for this one event. most of them have personal trainers who do explosiveness drills with them and also practice 40s.

as for techniques. it all depends on the runner. lynch from Cal ran different from Adrian peterson or calvin johnson. the important part is to explode off of the line and pump your arms.

it's just a track sprint...not in equipment or anything..from what I saw on ESPN.

THEY JUST RUN, TRACK SPEED IS NOT FOOTBALL SPEED.
