does anyone else here think that the movie blood diamond got shafted at the academy awards?

i saw the movie and i thought that it was definatley going to win best picture and best supportin role, does any one else agree?

I totally enjoyed "Blood Diamond "and think it has all the ingredients of great movie-making.It features Leonardo Dicaprio and Djimon Hounso at there best in my opinion,with significant support from Jennifer Connelly as well.The whole movie was a thrill ride of entertainment that made my day!Now to tell you why I think the Academy snubbed this great movie;I am a sharp observer of the Academy Awards each year and can tell you that once a movie is considered an action film by the panel of nominee judges,it usually won't be considered for an award---no matter who stars in it,the direction,or the story.Now they will pick out bits for Oscar honors(as Djimon Hounso for Best Supporting Actor) and secondary awards like Sound Editing and such,but not Best Picture,unfortunately.Sad though since it has lots of drama,plot and intrigue to go with the action in it.But to make it simple,I feel it has a lot to do with a question of balance as far as the Academy judges are concerned.If a producer wants to make a movie that he hopes will be considered for Best Picture,he should make certain it is 80% drama among other things.All this is just my honest opinion and I hope it sheds light on your question dakine_rider156.

Djimon Honshu deserved that Oscar so much more. I watched both Little Miss Sunshine and Blood Diamond and they were both great movies great acting. But Dijimon was just beyond amazing. Great movie. Not the biggest fan of Dicaprio though

"Blood Diamond" was a great picture, and Djimon Honshu was a great supporting actor - they both deserved the Oscar!
