I think you are talking about fuel cutoff,Your engine shuts down at a certain speed. This is built into the cars computer or ecm.It is a safety feature for the engine & yourself, (they don't want you going over a certain speed on our highways. But a smart driveability technican at your gm store could probably get rid of it with some computer tweaking.Good luck

IT also has to do with the tire speed rating. I would bet your Malibu has a tire rated at 112 mph or less. GM would then limit the speed to less than this for legal reasons.

The governor stops the vehicle from going faster then then vehicle specs. (fuel economy etc) You cannot remove it without putting another in (program chip). There are chips that will allow your car to go faster and have more power but fuel economy goes down the drain.

it,s not a governor..........it,s a vehicle speed limiter..........a governor would limit & maintain your engine r.p.m........the speed limiter was put on your vehicle to keep you at a sensible speed....mostly at the request of the insurance & law enforcement comunity,s........yes ....it can be removed/bypassed.....but most are set at aprox. 100 mph......why would you ,where could you.....want to go faster?
