You are entitled to your own feelings and opinions, you dont have to love the world and everyone in it. But you are however entitled to show respect and decency to your environment and others. If you have an opinion about something, you should be able to express it, as long as you dont say something thats going to put your own foot in your mouth.

In the US (and most countries), how you feel about something or someone is entirely up to you. In the US, feelings and beliefs are absolutely protected.

The lines start when you express those feelings or beliefs, and when you act upon those feelings or beliefs.

Expression is mostly protected (in the US) under the 1st Amendment, with certain exceptions (incitement, harassment, defamation, etc).

Actions based on hatred are not protected however. So, if you're just asking about feelings -- that's internal and entirely up to you.

Anything more external, other rules apply.
