I'm in Wisconsin- it gets colder than a witches brass ***** here. Sometimes negative 20 degree windchill at night. Do most people butcher their ducks in fall or keep them in a shed? Like a hen house? Come to think of it- what do farmers do with their chickens in winter......hmmmmm guess that's where all the chicken soup comes from? Idk

Well most farmers won't butcher their chickens that are still laying eggs pretty regularly. During the winter we just let our ducks run free, we leave a shed open for them to go into. But we live in Texas and rarely see freezing weather

Most farmers or rancher like myself have a hen shed that is kept warm by a heat lamp. You can buy a hen shed kit at most country stores like Tractor Supply, or just build a make shift shed and just string a heat lamp to it. If you do however- you may want to get one that has a timer on it that way you don't burn out the bulb, burn the ducks, or start a fire in the shed.

We let ours run free but they go in a coop when they're cold..they usually don't though..they hate being locked up..then again if it gets negative 20 it may be a bit different.
