Hi, My husband and I decided to start trying to have a baby. I was only on my birth control for 1 week and took it off. three days later we had sex, which was two days after my peak ovulation day. Do you think I could have gotten pregnant even though it was a few days after ovulation?

How do you know it was AFTER your peak ovulation? Ovulation predictors tell you that you will ovulate 24-48 hours after a positive reading. So, if you had a positive on Monday, you probably actually ovulated on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The egg can live for about 12 hours before disintegrating. So, lets say that you ovulated on Tuesday and had sex on Wednesday. I'd say that your chances of fertilizing that particular egg during that 12 hour window is 50/50.

It is really important to have sex every other day starting a few days before ovulation and a few days after ovulation. If it doesn't happen this month, it doesn't mean it won't happen. It just means you can have fun trying again and that it WILL happen in the future. Good luck honey.

Are you sure that is your ovulation time? Usually the ovulation time is 14 days after you start you period. Anyway if it was, you are most likely to get pregnant 24-48 hours before ovualtion and up to 24 hours after. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!
