I am looking to read some fiction books but want some opinions on what is good. Are there books you have read that you thought really, really good? That you couldn't just stop reading? Any series? I've read these books my mom has, they are a great series. But I've read them again and again. I need something knew. I figure word of mouth is the best way to find some really good books.

I would recommend a seires as you seem to have gone through quite a bit, if you've read all your mother's books as well.

Diana Gabaldon, the series begins with Outlander, and continues, the 6th book has just made soft cover. It is historical fiction and revovled around a main character, in Scotland just after WWII on her honeymoon with her husband, who suddenly gets transported to the 16th century by accident and becomes intertiwned with the activities of the day. The story is moving, and has some of the best of everything (fights, love, anger, plot twists) I have read in most fiction books in quite some time.

The second is a trilogy, and falls in Fantasy. Jacqueline Carey is the auther and it is the Kushiel trilogy. The story revolves around a created religion and has a very monarchic society. A girl sold into indenture, and purchased, trained in the arts of covertcy and servitude becomes embroiled into a plot to overthrow the queen.

Be advised both have very graphic sexual content, that doesnt detract, but definitely adds to the stories.

Enjoy.

Two of my personal favorites are Gone With the Wind and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. Memoirs of a Geisha and Prep are also really good.

I really like the books TTYL and the next book in that series TTFN by Lauren Myracle. Both are written completely of Instant Messages. I don't know if you're into that kind of stuff but they are really good books!

I quite liked the Georgia Nicholson (I think) books by Louise Rennison. The first one is called Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging. They're British, so the humour is a little different than our humour, but they are hilarious!

Right now I am reading 'Dark Angel' by Sally Beauman...it is one of the best books I read in a long long time!!!
Right now, I am trying to take it slowly 'cause I'm nearing the end...don't you hate it when you get familiar with characters, and then you are done with the book???

Personally, I really enjoyed The Kite Runner. Hosseini (the author) used excellent simple language, and the events are very realistic and unexpected. It is very haunting and will certainly have an effect on you. I really enjoyed this book, and I hope you will too.
