When I first start up I can get to the desktop but it takes 3-5 mins to load when I click on an ICON?

no matter what ICON whether it's Explorer, Word etc it takes forever, can anyone please help. I've ran a virus check and there is no viruses is there anywhere where I can perhaps change the response time.

Try this.... click start then run type msconfig click start up uncheck everything that is checked off except your virus scan and messenger click apply then restart your computer.
