My house is for sale and I need to spruce up my front door area, on the outside. There's a little bit of rotted molding around the door... not much, just a few little spots. And also, we used to have an overhang above the door but it came off during a windstorm last summer. You can still see the change in color on the house where the overhang used to be. It's a triangle shape about 3x2x2 feet.

I've been wating since October for my husband to fix these 2 problem areas but he hasn't done it so my mom and I are going to do it.

Any quick and easy suggestions would be VERY helpful!

you can buy triangular shaped vinyl vent covers that are meant for the point in the attic roof. you could maybe find one of these that would fit over that discolored triangular patch......would be much easier than building a new overhang. Fill the rotted molding with a good quality exterior grade wood putty. Sand, then paint the trim. paint the door too. it will give it a clean fresh look. put a couple of large urns on either side of the front door. stick a pot of tulips in each, or, if its too cold and snowy, then stick in some evergreen boughs. put a willow branch wreath on your front door. Install a nice big brass knocker.
