I recently got my second holes done on my ears. I had them done at Claires and have been using the antiseptic that they gave me to put on them. It's been almost 3 weeks and my left ear is still sore when I turn the earrrings. Could it possibly infected? Would it be okay to use peroxide occasionally? I had my first holes done when I was really little and my mom said she used peroxide on them but the people at Claires said not to use it. What's best?

wash it with dial soap in the morning and at night. and do a sea salt soak twice a day. mix sea salt with water in a little bowl and dip your ear in it for 10 minutes. you know you have enough salt when it tastes kindda like tears

Unfortunately, that happens sometimes at Claire's. My second holes got so infected and swollen so badly that I'm surprised I was able to keep the studs in. For my third holes, the chick wasn't even paying attention to me. She was talking to her coworker and the post didn't even go through my ear the first time. She had to do it again and it hurt like a b*tch lol.

I also used to work at Claire's and it's not required to go through that much training before you're allowed to start piercing people. I did it the correct way, and was careful with every person, but the best way to get any piercing is to go to a piercing/tattoo shop where they use a needle. I've heard it hurts a *lot* more, and it's more expensive, but at least you know you're going to heal better.

With that said, your condition doesn't sound like it's too serious. Just keep using the solution (peroxide will only dry the skin out) and use the sea salt rinse. It's best to go to a doctor and/or take the studs out if your ear starts to pus a lot, swell a ,lot, or throb.

Good luck!

that place uses a gun which is BAD! but it could be infected. never use peroxide. instead dissolve sea salt in warm water and soak for 10 minutes, i would do it every day. then just keep it clean. or if u are very concerned, go to a professional piercer and see what they recommend. the sea salt soaks clear up infections very quick and effectively, but peroxide drys and irritates the skin and can cause problems.

I got my ears pierced at Claries recently, as well! August, actually. That happened to me too. Stick with the stuff they gave you, if that's what they said! I might not go to Claires to get my second hole because when I was was supposed to take them out the posts were bent so that I had to use pliers to get them out, and they bled. It also happened to my friend, AND her friend. Here's hoping it won't happen to you! But stick with the stuff!
