Someone I know is being put on trial in Idaho for molesting an eight year old girl over five years ago. He didn't do it but his ex-girlfriend, her daughter, and her granddaughter are claiming he did. They had the pre-trial today and the judge told my friend that if the jury finds him guilty that he will be locked up for life. The judge hasn't even heard my friends side of the story. The women that are claiming he did this to a little girl slit the tires on their cars and said he did it. The police found out after they had arrested him for it that they had done it. They hadn't said anything about him doing this until they found out that he was going to move out of state.

The judge told my friends lawyer that unless my friend takes a plea bargain or the jury doesn't find him guilty that he's going to be in jail for the rest of his life (this was said before the pre-trial).

Is there anything that he can do to get a new judge or make the real trial more fair?

He was at work when this supposedly happened. I know he's innocent they just hate him for dumping the kids grandmother. They even have the kid lying about it.

My friend said he checked it out and that in his state you can do that. I don't know about it 'cuz I don't know much about this kind of thing.

I would ride out the trail, and appeal it. It is a ***** to appeal it, but if they omit the charges of the vandalism of private property in court, you cannot appeal. If the cops acknowledge that the information was found false on the other families part, and they do not say that in court, appeal. Also, if he has a solid alibi, what's the problem. OH, and ps-you cannot put someone away for life for molesting a girl. Repeat offenders are not even put in for more then 10-20.

Not sure about Idaho, but in PA it's IMPOSSIBLE to get a fair trial.

If he is found guilty, then he will have appeal options available. If there is proof that the accusers lied about all or a portion of the allegations, it will hurt their credibility, but doesn;t necessarily mean a jury won't "err on the side of the child" even though that is supposed to be reserved for civil cases.

I wish you and him the best, and if he is innocent, I wish him freedom.
