it's a mixture of pride of serving your own country, making your family and country proud of you, the experience you will acquire or the feel of being in the battlefield (as men desire) which will later help you if you aim for a public office, nevermind the meager pay, also, the sad truth about avenging your fallen comrades and having your own share of "kill" in the war.

Knowing a lot of troops in that region... I find that they think that the cause they are serving, is worth it. To the American public, the war in that region doesn't seem worthwhile, because of the media. What the media doesn't tell us, is the fact that the troops are building schools, helping kids and creating public buildings. They are HELPING people, not blowing them up. You ask, why doesn't the media report on this? One, word.... ratings. Believe it or not, bad/controversial news is what the American population wants to hear... not news on how some soldiers saved some child's life, or how they built a school. You also ask, what motivates them.. well, the fact that they are helping these people is that motivates them. Like I said, Iraq and Afghanistan is portrayed like the trenches of WWI, its not that case. The trouble is only in certain areas and one of the major causes of this is Iran, and religious tension. Don't listen to news channels such as MSNBC, CNN or sometimes.. even Fox. Yes, they do tell A story, but not the WHOLE story. If you do a simple search, you will find many blogs on what WE are actually doing there, and trust me... you will be surprised!
Just to add, most of the country thinks that this war is hopeless and has no reason to it. Well, we can just blame that on the news networks... who only a small percentage of the news, which is bad and not the good news.

was this a joke question? so many troops DO NOT gladly land up in these high risk battle field areas... they go because they decided to serve their country and protect the united states. and where do you come close to say good looking women?
I AM A SOLDIER AND A lady who does not appreciate you saying this! we all have our opinions but with all of our fallen soldiers why would you say that these troops go GLADLY? they are risking their lifes, and they know that the minute they are told they will be deployed to afghanistan, iraq, kuwait and all the other desert places. they may seem happy or you may not hear them talking bad about getting deployed because they cant, its against military code> u are happy wether you like it or not>YOU BECOME GOVERNMENT PROPERTY!! that is why they "SEEM" so gladly... and of course they cant show fear either so what would you show?

It's their sense of duty. They love what they do and it gives them a good feeling to help free oppressed people around the world. I've seen so many interviews of how attached they become to the children and local people who truly love them and are thankful for their help.
I think it's very rewarding although I've never been in the military myself. And it's great to see how much the American people support them and their cause. There are so many ways to show your support too. A few years ago we bought air conditions through Home Depot and had them sent to the troops. It's the least we could do for the sacrifices they make for our freedom.

this happens oftentimes, notably if the couple is youthful and in basic terms beginning out of their lives and careers. Assuming the area is great and the time, like college or a sparkling pastime, is in basic terms as great, it extremely is extremely asking to lots, to assume the like to final. Married human beings get divorced for all time, and that they stay section by section, which of course, must be the reason in the back of the divorce. lol different couples cut up up, love regrettably, for many persons, isn't eternal, yet oftentimes fleeting. besides the undeniable fact that collectively as we are in love, we've self assurance it to be so. all of us want organisation and companionship, and persons on the factor persons. In long distance, you may consistently stay in touch, at the instant, yet you nevertheless want some particular man or woman on your existence, till you should stay at abode, with a solid e book or television etc. no longer the suited thank you to spend ones existence.

A sense of honor, a sense of duty, wanting to do something that really matters in this world. I served in the US Navy when I was younger, and would be proud if my son made the decision to join the service. I feel that there is no greater service one can do to repay those who have went before protecting the freedoms that we all enjoy in our country.

Most of the troops are from poor families and join the forces for monetary incentives like college loans, and home mortgages, presuming they make it out in one piece with a sound mind. It would be interesting to get the family income figures for the last two generations of the "patriots". Wonder how many volunteers we have from the high income families. Also, how many politicians have their next of kin on the battle front?
