The president's lack of action has perplexed me for a long time. Through my own research, I think the reason may not be what everyone has been led to believe. Now, mind you, I don't agree with his position wether or not this is true but here goes.
The drug and other criminal cartels are powerful in Mexico. So powerful that the their own government is afraid of them. Add to this a hidden problem with the indiginous people of Mexico. These are the original inhabitants. They are not of Spanish origin. They tend to be of short stature and have darker skin. In the more remote parts of Mexico they don't even speak spanish but their own dialog. For many generations they have been seriously discriminated against. The unemployment rate among them is extremely high. They are forbidden from working in many jobs and often their children are so abused in school that they stop attending.
Fear of a revolt by these indiginous people and having powerful well armed and well trained private armies of drug lords ready to step into the breech has led to Mexico exporting many of these people to America. (You can find some bits and pieces of information about this on the web.) There is also a group of radicals who want to reclaim Texas, New Mexico and Southern Califorina back to Mexico. The weak government is desperately trying to keep a lid on things.
I suspect the reason for the weakness in the border is somewhat related to this. I think Mexico may be more in danger of an all out civil war than most people realize. Having visited there a few times I can tell you there is a vast disparagy between the haves and the have nots. There is a lot of corruption, too.
It does make sense. It explains why no one is wacking this political softball clear out of the park. The silence regarding imigration during the last election was deafening.

no longer blaming Clinton, yet Clinton became virtually surpassed Bin weighted down and declined. So Clinton, like Bush, did not trust there became sufficient intelligence to help Bin weighted down as a concern.

Bush and the other scumbags are letting illegal immigrants to allow corporations and other businesses drive down wages. Nothing new really.
Bush is strong on terror; terrorizing other countries that is, but weak on protecting America.
