Could it be that Hillary and Bill were ahead of their time? Or is the sorry state of health care in the US the driving factor?
Here is the Gallup Poll question;
"Do you think it is the responsibility of the federal government to make sure all Americans have health care coverage, or is that not the responsibility of the federal government?"
It is - 69%
It is not - 28%
Unsure - 3%

80% of Americans polled by yours truly found polls to be uninformative and downright immaterial to fact.
69% of Americans want free health care....but they think the other 31% are going to PAY for it!!

Because 69% are too dumb to understand the sense of dependency this will cause. The same dependency that was formed under the Welfare system will occur under a nationalized health care system.
Rep John Conyers HR 676 is an example. If passed:
- you must go to government sponsored doctors
- you will not be able to opt out of the program and seek your own doctors (made illegal: what happened to pro-choice?)
- your payroll taxes will be raised by 6.75%
- your very personal medical records will be stored in a national database (hacker-proof - naaahhhhh)
Look at Britain's health care system to see how invasive the government has become

You should see how well the government runs things before you decide to jump on their bandwagon with Hillary (grin). From your posts, it appears that you really don't get economics and your name is just another way to offend level headed Americans. Move to Canada and see how well government run healthcare works. That is why they come here and pay out of pocket to get health care.

the cost of health care has doubled in the last 5 or 6 years. No one can afford it anymore. I live in a state were one out of four people do not have health coverage. As it appears to most people, the insurance companies aren't going to provide us with affordable health care, people start looking toward the government to help us out.
ironic that the guy two answers above me would quote John Conyers. He is from my state.

I"d love to be able to provide it, but...
1 - A government monopoly is not the answer
2 - If we really want to aid in healthcare costs, a big dose of tort law reform is going to have to pass. This is well overlooked by the media

Because, other than the South (which receives the most welfare, is the least educated and produces the most violent crime) the rest of America is not as conservative and heartless as they've recently been reported to be. Perhaps compassion will make a comeback.

I read about the poll. Americans are sick and tired of the high cost of healthcare.
Healthcare is out of control, and it is time for the USA to follow the pattern set by the EU.
