Poisonous? No..of course not. In the movie Holes, they used Beardies and portrayed them as poisonous but they arent. I've handled alot of beardies and I was never bitten.

No, beardies don't have any poison or venom at all. I think that's a rumor from that Disney Movie "Holes" or whatever, they USED Beardies for the movie, but said they wre some other kind of lizard and poisonous.
Most lizards dont have any venom or poison in their system, you do get poisoned however by the bacteria that builds up in their mouth. This usually happens in carnivorous lizards, (Gila monsters, Komodo Dragons).

by far not in the least bit poisonous, whoever said this is crazy

There are only two poisonous lizards in the world, the Mexican beaded lizard (Heloderma horridum) and the Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum). One is found in the arid part of Northwestern Mexico and the other is found in Southwestern Arizona. The Austrailian Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps) is not poisonous.

Actually it has been recently discovered that some lizards, such as beardies and iguanas, DO actually posess a mild venom, though it is completely harmless to humans as they have no way to inject it... They actually isolated crotamine in beardie "venom", which is a protein previously only found in select species of rattlesnakes' venom.
As for beardies actually being dangerous? No way. I bet a wild one could be rather bitey, but most captive dragons are completely harmless.

you are correct for all intense and purposes but they do carry salmonella and if you are scraped or bitten (very rare but possible) wash the area very good with antibacterial soap for at least 60 seconds this will kill any bacteria and prevent any infections.

they are the nicest, gentlest lizard out there!! i recomend them over every other reptile. the only time i know they can get mean is when they reach sexual maturity (approx. 8 months old) thats when they hiss and get nasty. but its nothing to worry about!!
