Is it possible for me to put my hard drive from my laptop to my desktop? I want to get some info off the hard drive but my computer died. If not, does anybody know a way I can get info off it?

I am also broke, so I need a cheap solution, or at least a cheaper solution would be better.

~I would take a trip to the local Tech School in your area and see what they could tell you.
also, try this:
http://www.computer.howstuffworks.com/hard-disk.html
or
http://www.computerhope.com/help/hdd.html
they will tell you that the page you want is gone or whatever but that doesn't matter... on the 1st site, just click on computer at the left... the 2nd site has a "FREE HELP" link and you can ask whatever you need to know. :)
Cool huh!

get a USB 2.5" IDE External Hard Drive Enclosure (laptop HDs are 2.5" and it is just $14 plus shipping)
just follow the link below,
when you get it
take the HD out of your laptop and put it in the enclosure.
Plug the thing into your USB port and go.
Just keep it in the enclosure and you have a portable HD that you can plug into any computer.
Good luck!!

First, you can take out the harddisk from the PC. Buy a external casing and cable for your harddisk(either 2.5" or 3.5" casing). It's normally a USB cable and power supply(if needed). then just plug the usb cable to laptop and extract the data.
casing will look like something in the link http://www.lelong.com.my/Auc/List/2007-10DSale3953344.htm

depends if your desktop has any usb, & what os oyu're using, if your os is windows xp then the easiest way is to buy or borrow a 3 1/2'' external usb hardisk adapter card or casing, one end is plugged to your h/disk the other to your pc usb port, be careful though of the pin orientation when connecting the h/drive to the pcb board

I imagine you could. It shoudl be either an IDE or ATA drive, in which case you could hook it up to a desktop. If its like a SATA drive or something, you would need to have a SATA controller on your desktops motherboard to hook that one up.

i suggest you buy an external hard disk case for your laptop disk. it is supplied with a usb connector cable so you can interface it with a desktop.
Good Luck!
