Special needs is an interesting concept tell me about it, why do we need it, what does it prove, aren't we all special in some way, how are you special, if you know me what might you say is special about me?

I have an adopted son (6 ½ yrs old) and a foster daughter (19 months old). I would wonder how old they were when you got them and if you are reinforcing them being disabled? Alos how much their background played into this, the way they were treated? My son has ADHD, FAS and tourettes. Isn't this name calling in and of itself, unwittingly? My daughter has autism and she is severely delayed. These could be two different things could they not? Don't all children deserve patience and movement and voice. I have to use sign language, isn't this used for those with communication difficulties or just another form of language? She can barely walk and has to be taught to do the little things that come natural to most of us. Are you not saying that she is a little less then the rest so we need to make exceptions for her because she is less then by saying this? Shouldn't you be expecting others not to see her difficulties and to see "her" rather then to see her qualities? Just asking?

People out there who make fun of others I realize are dumb such as psychiatrist that call names. Many kids grow up being bullied, picked on and named called which should stop. Yet, they are often able to be happy and loving children and adults in spite of all of it. It isn’t their fault that they were born this way how do you know that some of this is not from environment, cirucmstance, perspectives, and expectations rather then being born with it? So why should people put the blame on them or their parents, if it is something that they can not change, or help them and their parents change with dignity and support if it can be changed, instead of harassing them for something they can not control or may not know how to make different right at that moment?

Special needs is a term used for children with disabilities. I have an adopted son (6 ½ yrs old) and a foster daughter (19 months old) both with special needs. My son has ADHD, FAS and tourettes. My daughter has autism and she is severely delayed. Children with special needs require patience and repetitive movement and voice. You have to spend most of the day repeating yourself with my son just to get him to get dressed, to eat, to wash his hair to get ready for school. With my daughter I have to use sign language because she can not talk. She can barely walk and has to be taught to do the little things that come natural to most of us.
The only anal retentive people out there are the people who make fun of others that are different. Most of these special needs kids grow up being bullied, picked on and named called all there lives. Yet they are the happiest most loving children you can meet. It isn’t their fault that they were born this way so why should be put the blame on them and harass them for something they can not control.

"Special needs" is a politically correct euphemism for an individual with a physical or mental disability. Believe me, there are a lot of worse terms that these people might have been labeled a generation or so ago. It is really not a derogatory term.

Of course every one is special in his or her own way. I personally admire folks who have overcome handicaps to live productive and happy lives. They are special by virtue of their ability to overcome challenges and contribute something of value to society. And I have seldom known a handicapped person who just sits around and feels sorry for him or herself. Rather, a special needs person is often upbeat, and an inspiration to all of us, especially those who are able bodied, but continually whine about misfortunes, real or imagined.

Special needs is a 'politically correct' term created because people are anal retentive. When you call a spade a spade they get their panties in a bunch. Everyone is special because everyone is an individual, just like everyone else. I sure won't get uptight if anyone calls me a son of a DP, Redneck yahoo or anything. If you ask me the people who create political correctness are just prejudiced and ashamed to face it.

I think we all special God mad us so therefore we are all special needs. I think we all special need but we all made in Gods image so it really dose not matter. What matters is we are the same to God you are and I am so we not to judge the special needs thinking we better truth is we exactly the same. I hope that helps if you want more information maybe read Genesis 1 where it saids in the beginning God created man and women in his imagine.

You said it your elf. Special is just an abbreviation of Special Needs. However, I have this strange philosophy that if there is a creator, those who he makes the journey the hardest for are those who are the most special among all of us.

I think it is basically a politically correct term for disability. Am I right? I'd like to know.

Yes we are all special, you are perfectly you and no one else can possibly be more perfectly you then you are because they are not you and that makes you special.
