Leave it be... this would teach her a good lesson

When I was 12 I cut my hair, no actually I chopped my hair to pieces. My mom was sooo mad at me, considering my hair had once been waist length. She grabbed a handfull of hair at my forehead, and cut it and said, you want short hair so here! It was awful! I had to wear a wide head band for months to cover it. Good thing that was the style then, I just blended in with the other hippies! But I had to live with it. So if she messed her hair up just to get back at you, then let her deal with how it looks. If you try to fix something she messed up, then she won't learn and she'll expect you to always cover for her mistakes. That's the only way she'll ever learn a lesson. It's hard, but it's tough love mom. I also have an 11 yr old.

She's young. We all make mistakes. I know I have had my fair share. If my mom wasn't there to love me and help me fix it, I would have become a wreck.

A good idea would be to talk to her and ask her why she did it. What caused it and why did she take it out on her hair? Then tell her that you will take her to a salon at the end of the week to get it fixed.

She could have been tired of her hair, upset about something at school, or just had angry feelings in general. Find out what it is so you can help her understand. You're her parent; be there for her like she is a part of you (which she is).

Good luck.

Let her go to school with it messed up for a day, then take her to a haircut place and get it done how you want it done. You might consider what the kids her age here have to say though, a bad hair day may be the beginning of hating school. Pick your fights carefully and don't over react, remember, it may have been beautiful, but it will grow back. Also, even if it gets straightened out at the haircut place, she is still going to miss her long hair. If you get mad and upset, her plan worked! :)

You should definately take her to get her hair done. I'm 14 and i know how she feels. If you don't get it fixed the other kids at school will start making fun of her and talking about her and stuff and it could lead to some serious trouble! I did the same thing a year or so ago and kids at school made fun of me cause my mom wouldn't take me to get it fixed and i started getting into fights and gettin kicked out of school within 3 days of cutting. D o you really want your daughter to go through that?

being a 11 year older my self i can understand where she is coming from she got mad because she didn't have her way but i know my mom would make me were my hair But i don't think you should do that to her because there is a lot of bullying going on in school these days and more of drama going on in schools now so you should not let her go to school like that

She is very daring. I would never cut off my locks even i was very mad at my mother or father. I say (If she agrees to it) take her to a salon and get some cute short pixie cut or a layered look. But if she stands behind her actions, leave her or buy her a hat.

Good Luck

Wait until she regrets what she has doen to her hair, then take her to a hair stylist to fix what's left of her hair. If you take her before she has seen the error of her ways, she won't appreciate what you do for her.

WOW. She probably regrets it immensely, so I suggest that you let her stay with her shorn off hair for a few days (so she realizes how dumb it was), and then take her to a hairdresser to get it styled properly.

Take her to the hair dressers and let them fix it. She'll probably never do it again but it would be mean to make her go around the way it is now.

Pretty sever thing to do for being angry at you. Instead of trying to teach her a lesson, look into why she would do something like this. It wasn't like she cut your hair, she did something to herself. What would your response be if she took a knife and was cutting herself everytime she was angry at you? Would you still try to teach her a lesson?
