I had a problem same like that when i was in middleschool. I cant seem to follow on many conversations or humor that my friends/classmates find very easy to understand. If you really wanna fit in a certain circle of friends then find out what they do and try to experience it too. (if they're doing drugs then dont ever follow).

Before I really wanted to join these basketball jocks when they hang out because i wanna be "cool" as well. so i practiced everyday, watched the NBA, and joined the school team. and just became one of them. goodluck.

Start talking about what your friends are interested in. Listen to the news with what's-her-name-Nicole- and see what the others think about the daily happenings there. Talk about cute clothes you've seen at the mall, and what's the DVD, CD, Playstation that your just waiting to get. Those that have something to say, and how they said it- people will want to listen. Be upbeat, happy and bubbly.

stop being so soft spoken, speak so others can hear you speak loudly at times -- make this a habbit to speak just a bit louder than you think is needed. make sure they hear you. say loud say it proud -- just say it.
