I am wanting to buy a laptop and wondering if asus is a good brand? I want a gaming and multimedia laptop. i would like a micro phone and camera built in.

Asus is the mainboard OEM for brand names like HP, etc. This is where Asus built their reputation.
For a gaming and multimedia laptop, system and video memory are very important. The laptop should be at least 512 MB, 1 GB if possible. Video memory should be at least 128 MB, recommended 256 MB and 512 MB, if possible.
You can get the latest duo-core CPU but P4 is sufficient if price is a major concern.
Microphone and speakers are built-in. There are laptops with built-in cameras but you might consider an external camera that can be attached to your laptop. You can move and turn the camera better than a built-in one.
