I would go to the Santa Clara County website and search there. I live in Nebraska and our office is called the Register of Deeds. However, your County has no such office.

Best bet would be to try the County Assessor. If that office is a no-go in terms of providing the information you needed, they can redirect you.

Contact a Title and Escrow company in your area. That's what these companies do. Chicago Title, First American Title and numerous others will charge a nominal fee for a Title search. You may want to ask them for plat and legal description information that they may not charge you for.

I live in Canada and here we can go to the Registry of Deeds Hope you have the same resource as it is very helpful.
