I would say if your taxes are simple, use it. If you have stocks, interest, etc. you may want to go to a tax professional.

I've done it before with no problem... but this year I unfortunately made little enough that I should qualify for EIC- at least, when you deduct for me the 8,000.00.
Anyway, Free taxact did NOT let me take off from my income for myself,
and di NOT permit te EIC,
so I'm just going to have an attorney do it for me.
They also kicked off my registration name, etc., because hey, I was doing htis for free for three years. So they just lost my data.

I have for several years now & I think it's great. You can file the federal free there but not the state. I wish I knew about them a long time ago!

irs.gov is also free.
