That is a normal temperature.

Generally, it is not considered a fever until 100.4, which he is well under. A newborn takes a bit in adjusting his body temperature. His temperature may be slightly high one time and slightly low the next.

As long as he is acting normally otherwise, he is probably fine.

If the temp is over 100.4 rectal or 99.4 under the arm then at this age needs to be seen. Dress him how you feel comfortable plus one extra light layer. Babies at this age rarely get constipated, at this age he should poop at least once every 24 hours. Is he eating enough? Does he fall asleep at feeds? As he gets older one bm every few days is normal as long as it is not hard. Older breastfed infants (generally 8 weeks +)may only have a bm every 5-6 days.

Call your doctor. A high temp. in a baby is a sign of infection. I would call the doctor just to be safe. My daughter had a temp. and turns out she had RSV. Babies under three months are to young for and over the counter medication. Trust your insticts, mother knows best.
