Depending on the age of the printer, you can usually go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers for your printer from there. However, if your computer's operating system is WinXP or Vista, and your printer is not designed for at least XP, you may have some compatibility issues, meaning it may not work all of the time.

If you have Windows xp or Vista, many of the drivers are already available in the system.
Just go to your printers, add a new printer, click on find driver myself, and a list of hundreds will pop up.
The other option is to download the print drivers from the printer company.

Restart your computer and then hook up your printer with a USB cable, the computer will recognize it as new hardware and Windows will automatically download the drivers for it and your printer will be as good as new. Good luck.

If you are using Windows XP, see if it recognizes it. If so, use those drivers.
Another option is to go to the printer manufacturer's web site and download the drivers. Most major manufacturers have the drivers available through their support area for free.
If that doesn't work, you can go to one of the sites below to see if they have it.
Good luck.

go to the manufacturer's website and look for the drivers. you might have to look in the archive files for your printer. if you can't find them there well then "google" and you will get some sites that do have them. some advice it might be better if you buy a newer printer. just my opinion.
good luck

Simple every company that makes a printer has a web site to help you with it. Canon, HP and many more has them. Go the their website and put it in and look for a customer support number to call and they will walk you through it.
