i dont have experience acting but i have been to my first audition. i was very nervous and i admit i wasnt that good. it was my first one and i was really nervous. however i did get a callback from the agency (which was mark jacobs i think) offering training. my mom said that the only reason they called me back is cus im pretty and i was wearing a mini skirt that day. so i never went to the call back. however, i still think that i can act with enough practice. id like to keep going to auditions. does anyone know any credible websites that post auditions for commercials and movies and stuff like that? any advice you can offer id appreciate it.

Call the agency back and ask if you can come in and talk
about it. Be honest and tell them what your mom said...she
may be trying to shield you from this profession which can be
discouraging. If you really believe in your ability to improve
and you already have the looks necessary for the kind of
roles you might want to play, get an acting coach that is.
known to be good by reputation. You can ask the agency
for this. The agency employs professionals that can recognize
talent, albeit raw. Trust their judgement. Many famous
people were discovered washing cars, waiting on tables,
etc....and none of them knew how to act in the beginning.
You have to learn these skills...and you will....and grow
into it. The more experience you have, the more confidence
to expand your horizons. Don't let anyone get in the way
of your dreams. Even if you don't make it, you can always
say that you tried your best. Look what happened to
Jennifer Hudson! You do need to get some acting
experience....and that can be in a play, commercial,
even a home movie. Perhaps you could prepare something
that you're comfortable with...a soliloquy or part from a
play or script...or just a small video wherein you talk
about yourself and your goals in acting. Having some
kind of film cred goes a long way. You may have all the
acting talent in the world, but if you don't shine on camera
or stage, this is wasted. Charisma....you gotta have it.
They saw something in you...see it in yourself!

It's a cut-throat world out there in showbiz (I know, I was there for a short while).

You should've gone back to that recall no matter what the reason they wanted you was. When people hold auditions they're generally looking for a certain thing, and it might well have been because you're pretty, but hey if that's how you get the job... I mean I used to get jobs because I look(ed) like your steriotypical geek, but I didn't care! They paid me for it and I got to do what I enjoyed.

It's always good to get as much experience as you can. Somebody suggested community theatre which is a very good idea. Apply for anything that's going. Local theatre groups, talent shows, school plays, you name it!

Have you also thought of signing up to an agency that mainly hires out extras and walk-ons? It might not be what you want in the long run but it helps you get the feel for it and check out how the system works.

Try applying for a drama school as well. They'll also help you find work.

Most importantly though, don't give up. So you didn't get the part in one audition, there'll be others. Don't worry about it. You've got to take the rough with the smooth. One day a part will come along that you're perfect for.

I wish you all the best of luck in following your dream.

You are pretty. You should keep going to casting calls as much as you can and keep plugging away and learn how to handle rejection with dignity and you may get a break. Get into as many plays as you can and you may get discovered. And always keep a positive attitude. Good luck to you and maybe I'll see you on T.V. someday.
