I'm doing a project on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and it has to have a pyramid of pictures representing each level of needs. The chart is formatted like this: (Goes down from point)

Self-Actualization
Esteem
Love/Belonging
Safety
Physiological

Can anyone give me advice as to what to put for how mine are met, and perhaps an idea to put the pictures into a pyramid format?

Good project! Some suggestions.....

Think about what those areas mean to you....do you have a picture of your current place where you live and what you need to eat to survive? (Physiological). Is there a place, situation, person who makes you feel secure or safe? (Sagety) Who are you close to, or do you have someone you love? For esteem...do you have a hero....or how do you feel about yourself? (You could have a mirror in that spot...or a picture of you where you think you look particularly good) For Self Actualization...maybe go with something spiritual or a picture of the ideal YOU....

See if you can't do a pictoral plan that can help you move up the pyramid....don't go for the end in one move, but if you can move up a little...it is progress!

Good luck....remember, part of the hierarchy is that you can't really move up the pyramid if there are problems with the lower level...if you aren't feeling safe, you can't devote time/energy to your esteem area....if you don't feel love, how can you love yourself which makes esteem difficult.....and so on!

Hopefully this will help.

Need for self-actualization-I think this is when you have to evaluate yourself as a person. what do you think of yourself? what are your standards?

esteem needs-feeling loved, wanted (talk about how you feel, as far as your wants and needs). Love from family, friends, community.

Love/Belonging-who do you feel you fit with well? amongst your peers, co-workers, members of your family within the same decade age range as you. (20's) belonging to a culture, etc. Do you receive support from your family, friends, community, etc?

Safety-it's more of a gov. thing as far as providing safety for this country. in your case, do you feel that your local officials (police, politicians) are doing their job(s) by protecting you, and the people in your community?

Physiological-residual/selective (do you feel you are responsible/able to have your own needs met). do you face any stigmas based on your needs?
-institutional/universal- do you think that the gov. should help you out with your basic needs? do you seek assistance?

From top to bottom

Independence
Interdependence
Dependence

hopefully I have helped you.

SELF-ACTUALIZATION: A sense of connection to a broader purpose and interdependence with your environment. (A recycle symbol, a religious symbol, or Yin & Yang symbol)
ESTEEM: A sense of accomplishment in achieving goals, work, etc.
LOVE/BELONGING: Having family & friends & a spouse
SAFETY: Living in a low-crime community (a fence or police officer)
PHYSIOLOGICAL: Food, clothing, shelter, and warmth.
