i have a gerbil and i've had it for over a year. RIght now, hes just lying on his cage and isn't moving.. he's stil breathing and i'm pretty sure he isn't sleeping because he's been like this pretty much since yesterday. When i put him on his ball to run around he still wasn't moving and isn't active like he was before. I can't bring him to a vet because my parents are busy, is there another way to help cure him? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no one here can cure him, they are not vets and vets cant cure anything over the internet. The only on to do that is the vet. Your parents need to stop being busy and take him, otherwise just keep him warm, drop him some water in his mouth, and hope you parents find in there heart to get him some help.

My daughters had gerbils lovvie. Sometimes they just don't have very strong tickers and do not last for more than a year or two. It sounds as if perhaps your pet has had a heart attack.

This happened to one of ours and the vet told us that, because they are so tiny, there was little they could do for her. Fortunately for Shoelace, she died within hours. We did use an eyedropper to give her a little water but that was not enough.

I understand how you must feel. It is awful to see something we love in pain. We had a spot in our garden where we buried all of our pets. Everything from fish to rescued birds to snakes and hamsters and gerbils went into that rhubarb patch.

Please call your vet and get some advice as to how to make your pet more comfortable if that is possible.

Possibly a stroke, I've heard gerbils often have them. Call the vet.

I copied this from the American Gerbil Society:

Strokes:

Strokes are characterized by paralysis, usually down one side. They are most common in elderly gerbils, but sometimes-young gerbils with health problems will suffer from them. A gerbil may experience a series of strokes, and not live long. In other cases they may make a full recovery. Keep them comfortable, and be sure they have food and water.

If transportation is an issue try calling a vet see what they can advise you to do, now I've never owned a gerbil before but that does not sound good. Hope everything works out.

Without having a professional diagnosis there is no way we can help you over the computer. Sorry. It sounds like your gerbil is very ill and needs help so it doesn't suffer

This doesnt sound good, Im sorry to say. They usually only live about 2-3 years. Sorry about this I hope that he isnt suffering, if you could get your parents to take him to the vet it would be good.

FIRST. Call a vet, see what they say!
SECOND. do what the vet tells you to do, even if you think it doesent seem right.its better to listen to a professional, even if you've had your pet for a while. You'll never know, it can save their life.

sorry kid, gerbils have a very limited life span, and respond poorly to most veterinary drugs and treatments.... they are most often given to young children to teach them "important life cycle lessons" time to prepare for the end.
