Read the book, THEN see the movie (and probably complain about how wrong it is!)

I prefer reading the book because more things happen in the book and it is more detailed. The movie leaves a lot of things out. I would read the book, then watch the movie. The movie, however, is good if you need to visualize the characters and the story better and see what it looks like through a filmmaker's eyes. But the book really lets you see it through the author's eyes. Plus, it is really fun to imagine how the characters are depicted in the book. When you watch the movie, they are portrayed by actors.

Well I prefer books because they have more information. But when I told this to my friend, he told me:
"Have you ever heard the saying 'a picture is worth a thousand words?' well considering that movie was 161 minutes long, and each minute has 60 seconds, and each second of film has 30 frames (or pictures) and eacho of those frames was worth 1,000 words...
161*60*30*1000 = 289,800,000
That means that the movie version equated to over 289 million words. There's no way that much information was conveyed in the book."

With me it depends on the book/movie. Example, I love the Lord Of The Ring movies but cant stand the books. But I love the book Eragon, and the movie is ok but not nearly as good as the book

Sometimes I'll see an old movie on TCM or AMC that I like sooo much, I just NEED to go find the book. Other times I'll read a book that I like sooo much, I just NEED to find the movie. Cuts both ways, for me. :)

Reading is 100% better than watching. When you read you get to image the story however you like it.
