While most people start young, I would often see people of your age in the beginner classes. Michael Flatley, the guy in Riverdance, didn't start to dance until he was 12. Go for it.

Nope, it's not too late to start ballet. It might be too late to get anywhere though (like becoming a prima ballerina) but it's definately not too late to start. You can sign up for a beginner's teen ballet class and they will teach you all the basics, and you move on up from there, such as pointe if you want. Ballet takes a lot of strength and discipline and you use your own body's resistence to keep yourself up. It's a good way to keep in shape, and is the basis of all dances. Do it! Good luck. =)

It is never ever ever to late to try something new....remember Noah built the ark....professionals built the titanic ;] GO FOR IT!!!
I've been dancing since I was two and had a little classic ballet training but at my old studio you did lyrical instead of ballet so I've really been ballet dancing for around two years! You'll have to really straighten your legs though and also work on your cardio and flexibility!!
I may only be 13 but dance is something i know with my heart not my mind!:}

if you take ballet, you can probably expect a class of girls younger than you. but that is not a bad thing i guess, if you don't mind standing out. i want to take ballet too, but i'm already 14. you can still take ballet if you want, but you probably won't get anywhere with a career as a ballet dancer. don't worry, it's never too late start.

it incredibly is under no circumstances too late to start taking ballet. My mom began ballet whilst she replaced into 30 and loves it. The ballet center on your city that provides classes for each age is in all possibility a good place to start. i do no longer understand the type you will communicate on your mom and dad, in spite of the undeniable fact that. basically get all your reasons mutually till now and carry mutually some suggestion concerning to the ballet center (mutually with pricing). Then flippantly clarify what you wish and why.

Nope I am 10 years older and have just started Ballet. It is great fun. At first it is a bit daunting especially ifthe instructir uses alot a terminology that you dont know. Do your best and enjoy it. It is a great way to get fit. It takers a while to understand. There is a book called ' Ballet for dummies' that really helped me.
Have fun!!!

It is never too late! Don't think that it is or I may vaporize while keyboarding this answer!
At the very least you will gain poise, discipline, gracefulness, you will expand your horizons...
You can expect to stretch muscles you never knew you had, gain a new respect for yourself in terms of what your body can do, and please do expect some pain but only if you work it!
The most you can expect is to be Prima Ballerina of a company if that is what you want, and again work it!!! work!!!! and work!!!! You can do what you will to do!!!
Enjoy!!!
