at the moment i would have to say Justine Henin who looks to be the only player that can take it away, she will need a few weeks but she seems to be finding her from again. she seems to be on target to win the Qatar Total Open which will move her closer to Sharapova. Amelie Mauresmo just cant find her form and her main strenght at the net seems to be letting her down badly

Justine Henin most likely. If she hadn't skipped the Australian Open she would have probably retained the number one ranking. As long as Henin does better at Indian Wells and Miami than she did last year she will surpass Sharapova in the rankings.

Maria Sharapova. Why? There is little denying that she has the most powerful game on the women's tour. She also has a huge mental advantage over players like Mauresmo who fear their own success. Sharapova is a very intimidating player because of her yells and aggressive play. I think that the only player who can currently challenge her is Serena Williams but her age will prevent her from being effective against Sharapova in the years to come. It will take a young player to defeat Sharapova and I have not seen anyone that could do it.............yet.
