For instance, if you are a Hab or Cane fan tonight, you must really hate seeing the Rangers and Pens get points. Stupid rules. I have no vested interest because I am a Flyers fan.

I don't think seperation in the standings is a good thing. Play-off races are good for the game, I just don't like the fact that a team can make the play-offs with more losses than a team that doesn't.

My first choice would be sudden death-that would make for classics, followed by ties, followed by 0 for the shootout loser.

I totally agree. I don't like the idea that a team with 39 wins and 43 losses can finish ahead of a team with 41 wins and 41 losses just by going into overtime all of the time. I don't care who benefits and who doesn't, that's just not fair. Not to mention the fact that hockey wanted to get rid of ties, but now they have overtime "losses" instead. If you can still end up with one of a possible two points, isn't that almost the same as a tie?

In baseball, it doesn't matter if you play 19 innings; a win is a win and a loss is a loss. Hockey is making itself look bad with this system.

Go back to the old rules in my opinion. 2 for a win, 0 for a loss, 1 for a tie. That means take out the 1 for an OT loss as well.

Not really. I would be in favor of a 3-2-1 system accually, 3 for a regulation win, 2 for an overtime win and one for an overtime loss. And no shootout....

The 3 point game helps teams too. If you're a bubble team and you know you're not going to win, you try to get it to Overtime, and the game still helps you out.

On the other hand, I wish the Pens had won in Regulation... but that obviously didn't happen. I consider them my second team....

Edit: forgot to say I'm a canes fan.

Hey, even though I understand why the 3-point system was started, and I agree with it, I hate all these damn games that are ending up like that. I am a Blues fan, and although my boys are a long shot, it doesnt help when Edmonton and Minnesota keep winning in OT and giving Colorado and Calgary points as well. It does tick me off a little.

i do no longer "hate" any team. i'm a baseball fan first - love the pastime. Then i'm a White Sox fan - yet no longer one that could desire to "hate" the Cubs. in actuality I cheer for the Cubs, as long as they do no longer look to be enjoying the White Sox. As i think of of each MLB team, i think of of previous gamers from those communities that are interior the HOF, or are merely great gamers and enormous for the pastime. of direction there are some that i do in comparison to or admire - maximum tremendously, one which will quickly be enjoying for the Dodgers back.

The 3 point system is the reason half the teams in the league can be called a bubble team. NHL needs to go to soccer point system, 3pts for win and 1 for ot loss (tie in soccer) to create more separation in the standings.

Would you rather have there still be ties? Ties leave both sides disappointed.
