Just go to Insert > Movies and sounds > sound from file ... then select which music file you want to play in it.
But that will only play in the Slide you selected it on, if its music and you want it to play over the whole slide show then go to Custom Animation > Right Click on Media and select Effect Options ..then in the Effect tab select 'stop playing...' and insert the number of slides you have in your slideshow.
If you wanna embed the sound file it as to be a .wav file and not MP3 ..and you have to go to 'options' then select the 'General' tab and you'll see 'Link sounds with file size greater than' make sure that it contains a number higher than the file size of your sound file. So if your sound file is 3mb make sure you put 3000 or more, or if its 5.5mb put a value higher than 5500.
