100 years ago most people did farm work. Whether you owned a small piece of land or were hired by a big land owner. You picked cotton, peas, corn, or beans. You fed the cows, hogs, or mules. Outside of that, there weren't many jobs, except in the big cities-and they were not much better off.

100 years ago the job a person had was to survive. They had to grow their own food, make their own clothes from spinning to finished...make candles so they could have light...A person stayed busy from dawn to dusk just to have the basics for life. If you did not plant a garden and can your food, you starved. Today we could not even begin to understand how hard it was to survive .
