I would like to recommend a Toshiba Satellite notebook. Most of them have Windows Vista on them, but there's no doubt you can get one with Windows XP. The new computers have at least 2GB of memory, so you have plenty of memory to store all of your files. Toshiba Satellites also have wireless internet with a CD/DVD-rom drive.

There is no such thing as a good deal on a laptop....
Ebay?... you are buying someone else's broke machine or paying excess shipping. (watch the shipping its often more than the product is worth)
Staples has OK prices and at least you know its really new. And Staples has a 30 day return policy.
