I want to start a small business making creative slideshows from Pictures. I would work alone, no employees, and would do this from home. Can anyone tell me what I need to be legal (such as licenses, tax id's, etc). Thanks!

Before you start your small business , do your self a favor and buy this book " The E myth " by Michael E. Gerber , this book is just marvelous , it will guide you in the proses to survive in your project.

If you do an LLC, it is not necessary to have another tax ID if you are a one person company. However you can still get a different tax ID. You just go to the irs website and call them and they will assign you one.
You get the LLC by filing the articles of incorporation with your secretary of state. The cost depends on your state. It can be cheap ($30) to expensive ($500).
When you have those documents, open a business bank account. You can find free ones usually.
You will need a state identification number to pay the sales taxes and you find that at your states department of revenue.
Get a business phone number. You can get one at http://kall8.tollfree2.com which is not expensive. $2 a month.
