At the local university is a professor who studies the longevity of families. Our family seems to fit within this study in that our individual members demonstrate longevity by exceeding 95 years of age. This may contribute to our family members obtaining long lengths of service and thereby gaining tenure and seniority based on this longevity.

If you have a job, some give you longevity pay. The amount you get depends on how long you've been there. It increases each year. Also longevity refers to how long you live. It can mean "how long" in any given situation.
