i plugged in my computer.. and i get a black screen?

Well first to do , is verify that the cable is plug correctly , then wen you turn the pc IF THE MONITOR lights changes from orange to green but changes back , then the video card is having problems , IF the light stays green BUT NO video ,then verify the mem , and last it could be that the monitor is not damage

Make sure you have everything plugged in properly and power to all and all switched on.

Try a different monitor (if available) - if you get a picture, then the problem lies in your monitor - if you DON'T get a picture then you may have a problem with the video output.

Try your monitor on another (working) computer - if it works, the problem is possibly with your video card - if it DOESN'T work, the monitor may be the problem.

Monitor with no video signal should display a test pattern or notification that there's no signal.
