I heard that a car bought a lot back in the day was called a Pinto. It almost always blew up when u crashed into it. And also that a lot of families bought it, so lots of ppl died in that cursed car. Why did it explode?

Also, KIA (The car company), the funny looking A in Greek lettering is like an L to us, so KIA is actually KILL! An ironic thing about that is i've heard somewhere that people die the most in KIA cars! Spooky ain't it?

By the way, I heard of it from the movie Top Secret! in the scene where these two guys were in a runaway golf cart, and they saw the Pinto in front of them, so the guy driving braked real hard, and it stopped with it lightly touching the back part, making it explode! it was funny.

The gas tank was thin-walled and there was no protection surrounding the tank. If the car was rear-ended, the gas tank would collapse and rupture, spilling gasoline under the car. If there was a spark as a result of the colission, it wresulted in ignition of the vapors and a fire burned the car, often with one or more occupants inside.

The Pinto's gas fill was at the back of the car. When it was rear ended in an accident the hose was pushed out of the gas tank spilling the gas and causing a fire. The repair was to replace the fill hose with a longer one.

in am extreme rear end collision, the gas tank was often punctured by a bolt that was installed backwards, and driven into the side of the tank when hit in the rear. ford fixed this after a couple years, but the bad press was out there already.

A rear end collision could push the fuel tank into the rear axle causing to break open, spill fuel and start a fire.
