dlgfdg:........You made my point for me .

You say at another time they would have been tried found guilty and convicted.

That is the problem, they haven't been tried.
You may not be aware of this due to your govt's covering up of the situation. There are people there that were taken off the street in Pakistan.
The people that were innocent when put there if released are certainly terrorist potential now.

By the way civilised countries no longer have the death penalty.

Amnesty International is powerless in face of the US might.

They have condemned it, the whole International community has condemned it, but the US just ignored it, just like they did in the past when other institutions have condemned the US for terrorist attacks (Nicaragua and others) and unlawful use of force and violation of international laws especially human rights laws.

The US is known in the western world (the one I can comment on) for its breaches of international law and human rights conventions. Guantanamo Bay is a scandal for the international community that wants to show the rest of the world how they should act to enforce the human rights within their countries.

I don't understand how some people believe they are there because they have done something wrong. If that is the case, take them to a court and they will be punished adequately. They are there because nothing can be found against them and even if there are some suspicion regarding their behaviour who are we to incarcerate anyone based on unproved evidence.

You just have to imagine that the bill that has allowed Guantanamo Bay can be extended to include an American citizen in any circumstance. This is the danger of breaching International laws that are there for historical reasons. Not only the US is breaching international law but it is also breaching its own amendments.

When this escalates and normal people get arrested for an undetermined amount of time then you will have an issue. Picture your son, your daughter, your mother, your father, your wife, your husband, your best friend or even someone you know being arrested for a considerable amount of time with no reasons and no communication regarding that person. How would you feel? Well, that is how the families of all those detainees feel right now and it can't be good if you want peace.

The government says that these people are not political , therefore they fall under the UCMJ, Hence, there is no limit as to how long they can hold child killers and radical killers. Give it a break. Would you rather they be turned loose to do it again???? During the second world war, they would have been tried and found guilty and exicuted by now.

They're doing what they always do....talk, talk, shame, that's not fair, etc. etc. Meanwhile the USA does whatever it wants, while most other governments find ways of not getting involved.

The only political prisoners near Guantanamo Bay are prisoners of the failed dictatorship of Cuba.

Maybe we could send the terrorists in Club Gitmo to your house.
