I know blood has a high iron content. However I don't know what the charge of it is. Is it possible that the type of iron found in human blood can rust if left to dry?

Technically, blood is rusty: the red colour comes from iron combined with oxygen, or ferrous oxide, which is rust.

Of course it can. Have you not heard the saying I am getting rusty..Well thats where it comes from. The person is rusting from the inside.
