I know quite a few people who have waited till they are engaged before having sex.
I think it would be quite stupid to get married without having sex. Even if you wish sex to be a very personal and private thing(no sleeping around), it is still better to figure out if it will work out before you get married, not after.
Now on the other hand, they were the definite minority.
Usually its one of three reasons
1) Religious: Their God Says so. This one is probally the only reason i know people might not have sex till marriage.
2) Romantic: They relate sexual intamcy with deep relationships, and do wish to only experience it with those they are close too.
3) Saftey: Public Education has done wonders on the widing the understanding of STD's. For some people its just not worth it.
Edit: I do know both boys and girls who have waited for a serious committment, but girls tend to have more invested in the saftey reason (because of possible pregancies)
