My wife is 5 weeks pregnant and everything would seem to be going as well as could be expected. But she claims that she has pains and burning sensation "down there"... is this a sign of a miscarriage?

If she is worried about it go and have it checked out. I am going on 8 weeks and in around the 4-5 week I started cramping and having weird feeling.. I was afraid of what it might be so I went and had it checked out.. It was nothing thankfully, but I wont take any chances.. If it is happening when she goes to the bathroom it may be a UTI she will still need to have it treated. Tell her to setup an appointment and make sure things are going the way they are suppose to... Best of Luck and Congratulations...

It sounds like the early signs of a urinary tract infection. I would know, I got one with both of my pregnancies. She should go see a doctor right away because if you wait too long it can get much more painful and uncomfortable. Plus, the doctor can prescribe the correct medication to get rid of it which only takes about a week by the way. Good luck with everything and congratulations!

Well conradulations. I am not a professional but I do know that sure sign of miscarriage is bright red blood. And being that I just gave birth to twins I know for a fact that her body is going through so many changes. So something as trivial as burning is nothing. It sounds crazy. I experienced a burning sensation and pains as well but only after sex when I asked my doctor she told me it was due to hormones and sensitivities that were normal due to pregnancy. So be prepared and be strong and supportive for her it will make the nine months to come alot easier for her and you! It is not as easy as most men think. And also ot os equally as important to be very supportive after the baby. After nine months of being pregnant and "high" on hormaones and excitement after birth it is the rudest awakening that a woman may experience emotionally she may be a wreck so at least pretend to understand. Good luck.

Could be any number of things, bladder infection, yeast infection, there are more... obviously she is sexually active it could even be a number of more mild STD's(some of which don't even require that either of you has ever had sex with anyone else). But she is pregnant, be supportive and if she is concerned go to the doctor. If nothing else, it will ease both of your minds, and your doctor has seen whatever it is before and probably has a comfort recomendation if not a cure.

No !!! As the pregnancy continues, their is a lot going on " down there ". She will be having increased blood flow, bonus for you, her sex drive will increase, and bonus for her, it'll feel better ! Seriously though, sometimes there will be a slight feeling of fullness, or heaviness. It's all normal. How about getting her a book like , " What to expect when you're expecting." Or borrow it from the library. It is a huge help. Good luck to the two, or three of you !

She might have a urinary tract infection. Is she getting enough water? Is she staying off her feet? She needs to relax, rest and elevate her feet just in case. What about calling the advice nurse for the hospital? They can help you decide whether or not you need to come in. However if it continues, I would definitely see the doctor. It's better to check things out.

Doesnt sound like it, the body goes through so many crazy changes, just getting used to the new implantation! Keep an eye on her, she could have a UTI. If she starts bleeding (not spotting) accompanied with cramps, go to the emergency room, until then it's scary but dont stress too much, that's not good either. CONGRATS

No, that's not the usual signs. (I've had one). Mine started with period like cramps that got worse and turned into labor pains. Horrible.

Things do start to shift and lean on nerves, also, hormones are raging for her right now. The baby is growing and her body is changing that's all. just the first of many discomforts. Of course always see a doctor if you're concerned.

And congrats!!!
