I believe that would be "Mick Jagger" from the Rolling Stones".
Jagger was playing in bands in Liverpool England around 1959/60, forming the rolling stones in 62.
Thats 47/48 years. Madonna wasn't even born!!!!!
Might be some older classical musicians, but Mick takes the prize for pop/rock etc.

I did not research this per your question but as far as popular musicians who are still performing i think Tony Bennett is right up there. He is 80 years old, he's been recording music since the 1950's and he's still very popular.

that's a hard question, as i personally know that there are many people who was singing in the fifties that are still singing today. good luck at finding just one person who has sung or played the longest.
